For November we bring you Trainer Jenna’s personal training client and Trainer Brook’s nutrition client, Amy!
My client Amy has had great progress in my personal training program and we wanted to share her journey to inspire others to work towards their goals. – Jenna
What was your reason for hiring a personal trainer?
I decided to hire a personal trainer because I had allowed myself to get out of the habit of going to the gym on a regular basis. I wanted the additional accountability, and knowing that regardless of what was going on in my life, I would be at the gym at least twice a week. I was hopeful that would get me motivated to make the effort to get to the gym on my own as well.
What were your thoughts on fitness before hiring a personal trainer?
I had really fallen off the fitness wagon, it just was no longer a priority or a habit in my life and I know I needed some help getting motivated again. A few years ago, I was regularly attending the gym and fitness classes, was in great shape and made the gym a priority. That was no longer the case, and I felt defeated, and somewhat ashamed that I had let myself get so far off track.
What goals did you have at the beginning of your personal training?
Consistency was one of my primary goals, getting back into the gym and establishing a routine, as well as weight loss.
Did you reach your goals?
Yes, I am in the gym 4-6 times per week regularly and have lost almost 30 pounds and several inches!
How do you feel your personal trainer helped you reach your goals?
Jenna proposed a program that consisted of four strength training sessions a week, two sessions with her, and two independently as well as independent cardio sessions. This gave me the guidance I needed, and made it easy when going to the gym, I knew what my workout was going to be, and didn’t have to put any thought into what I was going to do! We keep track of everything in a notebook and that allows me to see progress in ways that I hadn’t thought about before, such as increase in repetitions, or weight lifted. I can see on paper that I am getting stronger and it is a great motivator!!
How did you reach your goals? (example: training 4xs a week, eating healthier)
Once I established a fitness routine that I was excited about, I added nutrition counseling as well. This was the thing that was “missing” for me and I knew I needed some additional accountability and guidance. I was tired of starving myself, having no energy and not getting results! Brook has helped me so much in this area, I have lost weight and inches, have energy to get my workouts in, and am not hungry all the time!
What was your favorite part of the process of reaching your goals?
It is difficult to narrow this down as the whole journey has been amazing, and depending upon where I was in the process the answer may be a little different. That being said, I think a huge thing is that I know have confidence when going to the gym. I know what my workouts will be, and what I need to get done there is no guesswork or stress trying to come up with workouts.
What are some of the changes you’ve noticed since you started training?
I have lost weight and inches. I have gains in strength and stamina. I have an established workout routine and plan that I can easily follow.
How long did it take for you to notice these changes?
I would say that within the first month there were things that I noticed right away, for example being able to see on paper that I could do more reps or lift more weight than the previous week. It was a huge motivator!
Would you recommend others to hire Jenna for personal training, Brook for nutrition?
Absolutely, these ladies have been a huge influence and motivator in my life! I would not be where I am today without the support and guidance that they have given me! I am excited to continue working with them to achieve my goals!
What would you say to someone who is thinking about hiring a personal trainer?
DO IT!! This has been one of the best decisions I have made, I needed that extra accountability and guidance that Jenna has provided!
How has working to become healthier affected other parts of your life?
I have more energy to get things done and my overall sense of happiness/well-being has improved.
Do you have new fitness goals?
Absolutely! I want to continue to gain strength and stamina, build muscle and lose those last few pounds!
Would you recommend Evolve to others?
Yes, I love Evolve the staff, and the members!
What do you like about Evolve?
There is no judgment here, it’s such a welcoming environment!
What is the biggest lesson you have learned regarding nutrition?
So many things here, but I think the big one is that my relationship with/about food has changed so much! Your body needs fuel to perform, and those 1200 calorie a day diets that are pushed as healthy weight loss are just not sustainable long term! If you want to have sustainable long term results, then I highly recommend a coach, it has been life changing for me!
